Spectacular Sunsets Screensaver 1.0

If your favorite time of the day is dawn, when the sun comes up and chases away the darkness, then you need to look elsewhere. But if your favorite time of the day is sunset, when the sun goes down and illuminates the landscape in all sorts of vivid colors, then you need to take a look at the Spectacular Sunsets Screensaver.

Offered free of charge by Wallpaper Screensavers, Spectacular Sunsets Screensaver is a classic slideshow screensaver that cycles though a grand total of 20 images. All these images have one thing in common – they show the sun going down.

The screensaver uses various transition effects to cycle through the aforementioned 20 images of sunsets. From the settings pane you can select which effects you want the screensaver to use. By default all of them are selected, but if you want to, you can instruct the screensaver to use only the ones you want.

From the same settings pane you can select for how long an image will be displayed (the default value is of 10 seconds), the order in which the images will be displayed, and how the screensaver behaves (for example you can set it to ignore mouse moves and exit only when you press the ESC button).

You can activate the “Start image painting on Desktop” option from the same settings pane. I found this option to be interesting. Normally the screensaver just kicks in when the computer goes idle. When the “Start image painting on Desktop” option is selected, the screensaver doesn’t just show up; it uses a transition effect to pop in.

Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, Spectacular Sunsets Screensaver provides support for Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, NT, Windows XP and Windows Vista. Tested the screensaver on Windows 7 and it seems to work fine on this Windows version as well.
Limitations – there are none since this application is freeware. You can use it free of charge for as long as you want.

• Changes Internet Explorer’s home page to knightstar.net; not your default browser’s homepage, IE’s homepage.
